Games for Newest Players…what’s so great about Table Play?
Face-to-Face games strengthen your play and 'teach you the ropes' about table-play: the mechanics of a duplicate game
Electronic score entries using Bridge Mate &/or Bridge Pads
Keeping a physical Partnership Convention Card
Experiencing the various physical game movements.
MOST OF ALL...enjoying the sociability of being at a table with friends!
Still learning, the players are often discussing the best classes they have taken, best bridge books they've read, what websites are the most useful, how to participate in a Regional or Sectional Tournament.
We are fortunate to live in the Greater Houston area where our bridge community is large and can support many games..and we are WILLING TO OFFER many more games when our Membership ask! Email if you and your group have another date/time that works better for you and we will see if we can facilitate a game offering: Let us know if you have an idea for a new game!
The player network grows with each level of Advancement...making new bridge friends along the way. Start your bridge development locally with some of these games:
199er game at CLBC Wednesdays at 2:00 PM
199er game on Select Sundays at Shriners (check the website for the date of each months game)
Practice, Practice, Practice!
There are lots of ways to practice your developing skills. At-home practice groups, online Solitaire, Online tools like BBO's "Bridge Master". Also consider F2F Supervised Play or Bridge Labs which may not offer masterpoints but provide Directors to answer your questions about bidding and playing. Taking advantage of these tools will improve your skills faster.
Remember: No one gets good at something until they jump in with both feet. Whether you are young and learning a musical instrument where you practice daily...or a sport where you go to camps for all-day drills. Bridge is the same...daily practice will speed your skill level along.
We are so happy to do our little bit to support the Shriners!
Do you remember when so many childhood diseases were a scourge? Polio, Scoliosis, Measles, Percussis? And the burns...without many of today's modern safety controls, children were often the victims of terrible burns. Shriners Hospitals for Children were a leader in caring for children.
Some conditions have been nearly-eradicated by modern vaccines. But sadly, children are still victims of cruel health problems. And Shriners still do their best to contribute to their care. When you come to the Shriners to play in our Sundays-at-Shriners games, we will have a "Contribution Jar" and if you feel inclined to donate we will get the donations to them.
